The majority view out there is that we are still so far away from that brick wall that we can get out of it by steering hard and accelerating hard in a new direction. More technology and billions of investment in new hardware. No impulse to slam on the brakes and change our ways.
The very worst mistake human civilisation can make at this juncture is to try to impossibly sustain our present juggernaut by doing much the same thing as we’ve alway done by changing the deck chairs around a little bit.
We’ve made a dreadful mistake in sidelining the core problems that are driving collapse in order to make our messaging more palatable. It’s time we bluntly say what people need to hear, not just what they want to hear.Otherr wise our entreaties will end up making matters even worse than they are.
