For the last few months I’ve been using Medium as my outlet for, essentially, writing about writing. That made sense at the time and I gave it a long enough period of time to see if the experiment would work and lead to any sort of traction or other tangible benefits.
I have a new strategy in mind for this platform going into 2018 that I think, at the moment, is pretty solid in my mind. Maintaining a presence here is important as Medium is an interesting combination of publishing platform and social network. As much of a believer as I am in the idea of owning your stuff (which is why I’ve steadfastly kept a WordPress site going), I get that distributed content has its advantages.
With the new year I have various things in mind regarding consolidation and refocusing, all with the end goal being the same as it was: To maintain and build my presence online and hopefully gain freelance writing work as a result of showing off where my head’s at on a number of issues.
More to come, but it won’t look like what’s come before. Which is as it should be.
