New Year Reboot — Day 5 Ditch The Substitutions
Good morning team! I hope you’re feeling lighter, sleeping deeper and enjoying your trips to the bathroom (for both events).
Just wanted to address an issue I think a few of us are having regarding flexing the rules a bit.
We should all be on a 100% plant-based (meaning: vegan) diet right now. No dairy, meat, eggs, fish, seafood in addition to everything else we’ve cut out (sugar, gluten, soy, bad fats/fried foods, processed foods, soda, alcohol, etc).
That said, I want to stress the fact that we should not be using substitutes. No vegan cheese, no vegan yogurt, no vegan ice cream, no vegan meats, no gluten-free breads or crackers or cookies — no substitutes of any kind. We are not avoiding the real items only to substitute with their extremely processed counterparts. These copy cats are usually LOADED with sugar and other lab-manufactured additives (looking at you cellulose, et al) that we do not need (now or, arguably, ever). So, if you are crackin’ into a package, it should be a package of lettuce or kale, and that’s about it. No protein bars. No fake yogurt. No packaged foods of any kind.
I know some of you are in full blown panic mode by the thought of living two more days without meat, let alone dairy and breads (and thank you for those texts — they have made me laugh SO hard). Breathe. This is the detox phase of our reboot. You are doing a good thing for you body by getting all of your nourishment from plants while letting your system chill for a few days. I promise that you are going to feel so much better. And, if that still doesn’t calm you down, just be happy this 3 day phase doesn’t mimic the Master Cleanse! Lemon, water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 10 days? Hey, at least you can eat REAL FOOD (and are following a science-backed method).
Now, doesn’t THAT make you feel better? :)

You’re doing great!!!
