The Art of Massive Action: Why I Don’t Finish Most of the Books I Start

How many books and courses do you need to finish before you implement anything?

I was recording an episode of The Hustle Show today with Toby Miller, a fantastic online entrepreneur with an amazing story. On his episode, we were talking about taking “Massive Action”. I resonated with what we were talking about and I felt the need to share this with you.

A lot of people read dozens of books, from cover to cover or buy extremely expensive courses, yet they don’t implement anything they learned from it!

I’m a big believer that reading helps entrepreneurs get insights from experts on different industries. However, I’m opposed to the fact that you NEED to read over 20 books before taking 1 single lesson learned and implement into your business.

I call it “The Art of Massive Action” because for me, it all starts with an idea, but I don’t overthink this idea, I basically go all in and start making the idea a reality right away. I know sometimes you need to prepare yourself before launching your new business, which I totally agree with you. But the fact that you need 10 or 20 books before implementing anything, is what is driving me crazy!

I bet you learned a lot from the very first book you opened… So here’s a thought: Why not start the first book, get ideas flowing, and as soon as you learn something valuable, close the book and implement that lesson!

It’s quite interesting that while talking to Toby Miller, I found out that we had something huge in common. We both are heavy readers, but the funny thing is that many of those books that we both started reading, we never actually finished them. And after sharing this one thing with him I came to realize something; this is nothing to be ashamed off! Because the reason why we never finish those books, is because on chapter 3 we learned something so valuable that we couldn’t wait to implement!

The truth is, there’s many books that I started and never got to finish, because I was too busy implementing what I learned during the first few episodes of the book. I rather read 3 chapters and implement something new to my business, than finish 3 books and be overwhelmed with so many new lessons learned that paralyzed me with so much knowledge.
