What If It Were All Over Right Now?
By Chris Palmer, M.A.
Would you have regrets? Would you wish you had done things differently?
Is there something you really wished you would have done, but maybe you never did because of the fear of what others would say?
We waste so much of our lives concerned about how others see us. I do too. And it robs us of really living.
You can find seemingly countless surveys and research on what people regret as they are close to dying.
They wish they had spent more time with the people they loved.
They wish they had done more of the things they loved without fear of what others would think.
In the end, it comes down to that.
So why are we afraid? One answer is that we are social animals. Being accepted by others means we won’t be alone or abandoned. But being around people who like us for the wrong reasons is really just another kind of being alone, surrounded by people who never really know us.
So back to the question, what if it all was over right now? How would you feel about the life you’ve had? Would you have any regrets?
Well it’s apparently not over yet. So here’s your chance. What’s next? I hope it’s something that makes you feel alive.
It’s always up to you…
