Ledger Recover
In 2003, a guy took 1–2 hrs to set up my home internet.
4 cables, 1 modem, 1 router, and 2 fragile antennas.
No wonder it took 25 years for 90% internet adoption.
If we’re not careful, it’ll be the same for web 3.0.
Yesterday, Ledger Recover, rolled out, and the uproar has been insane.
“Trust is lost.”
“Don’t use Ledger.”
“Worst possible idea.”
“Seriously, WTF Ledger?”
All pissed off about something that’s not for them.
The reality?
It’s just a feature to onboard the masses.
Let’s look at the facts:
1. Ledger Recover is 100% optional
2. Seed phrases are divided into 3 encrypted shards
3. User ID and two shards are required for recovery
4. There are no added attack vectors (hardware-wise)
5. Ledger remains non-custodial, no KYC involvement
If you’re an OG/Maxi/Degen, this feature isn’t for you.
It’s for the people who will come after you.
Remember, not everyone is tech-savvy.
We were all newbies once. ✌️
