A Late Con
I wake up later, but the sleep made me feel much better. My family and I head straight to NerdHQ. My brother plays Star Wars Battlefront, my dad is totally loving the atmosphere and space. I, of course, take advantage of his love of NerdHQ and go to get myself some merch (not actually but you know what I mean). I end up with a free wristband, that a volunteer tells me I can take, what a wonderful NerdHQ volunteer. Thank you so much, whoever you are, you really did make my day. I kind of wander around some more, but don’t do much since I’ve been here already like 5 times. I then bump into 3 more Claras and we take a few pictures together. It’s totally awesome and if you want to see the picture, it’s on my Facebook wall.
I then go over to the model Star Wars motorcycle that people can actually sit on and take a picture with. My dad is in the line to take a picture with it. I then in the corner of my eye notice a security guard escorting some people to the front of the line. Usually if a security guard is escorting some people like this, it means they have some sort of special status, but I notice also no one is making a fuss over their presence. I casually glance over and I realize, it’s Sue Vertue and her 2 sons Josh and Louis Moffat. Yes, Moffat, as in Steven Moffat the writer and producer of Doctor Who and Sherlock! I of course fangirl and do my best to keep calm and be courteous to them. It’s a very brief conversation but I’m of course happy to have met them.
After lunch, I rush over to try to get into the panel with Stan Lee, had I been there 10 minutes earlier I could have made it in, but sadly I don’t. I then wait in line for the Muppets panel, but am uncertain if I should stay or go to another event in the con. I end up staying and it’s TOTALLY worth it. Perhaps this sequence (in order of apperance) will explain why.

Sadly there were too many people to go up and ask a question. But the muppeteers did an amazing job and the guy on the far right also does puppets for Sesame Street (like Bernie and Grover). I additionally got to see a once in a lifetime footage of the entire reel they pitched to the ABC people in order to get their show running. I don’t know if it’s leaked online, but if it is, it certainly doesn’t do it justice seeing it in person.
Afterwards I head (once again) to NerdHQ to eat dinner, then afterwards I go to get a ticket that I am buying from a person online (sketchy I know, but it gets better). This ticket is to go to see Peter Capaldi! So I’m rather set on going. Right before I reach the arranged meeting place, I look to my left to see the tickets I want are still being sold for cheaper, and from the actual ticket vendor. I wait in line and get the last ticket being sold! I cannot believe my good blessings, this was arranged so last minute I usually don’t get these kind of experiences. I go through security and the usher leads me to my seat, I am in the front middle area! The seats are cushioned and it’s air conditioned. It’s almost a full house, but for some reason my row and the rows surrounding me have some empty seats despite my getting the last ticket.
The show begins, and it turns out I walked into a live recording of the Nerdist podcast, one that I’ve listened to frequently. Not only that, but not only do they record with Peter Capaldi (who is less than a classroom length away from me), but also Sir Ben Kingsley. It is amazing and if you want to listen to the actual podcast click here. Be warned quite explicit and even super dirty and gross in some areas (I deliberately tuned out in some areas for sure).
I head back to the hotel, and because of prep for packing and a late dinner I don’t go to bed till 2am. And I have to wake up at 7:30am. *Sigh* I miss sleep. Sunday posts and even bonus posts will be coming soon.
