What’s Your Dream Home?

When I was a kid, all I wanted was a house with a pool. I loved to swim, so I said I would be happy even if we had just lived in a shanty as long as there was a pool. When I reached my teens, what I wanted was a house with a big kitchen because I loved to bake and cook. I didn’t like how cramped our kitchen was so I said, I didn’t care if all the other rooms were small as long as the kitchen was spacious.

However, when I discovered Fannie Flagg and all the Country Living magazines at the bookstore that sold second-hand books and magazines, I was set — my dream home became a cottage with a wrap-around porch, a big kitchen, and decent-sized everything else. A big vegetable garden with a picnic table would make it even more perfect. I haven’t changed my mind since.

In other countries though, charm — which is what I’m after — is not the trend. In Japan, most people prefer model apartment units. You may think this is such a “simple” preference but apartment units in Japan are “tech-loaded.” They have the latest technology for protection and safety — perfect for the workaholic population of urban locations. There are also apartment buildings built specifically for the aging population and these are dream homes for the families with members who already have mobility problems and require urine monitoring, and so on.

On the other side of Asia though, the real estate industry in UAE is designing and constructing complete fantasy homes. Like, if you’re in search of futuristic homes that are made of high-quality glass and have “garages” that are like glass cases for luxury cars. The top real estate developing companies in the country are creating them for the most discriminating property buyers.

Not only those, the said companies are also catering to the most fashionable property buyers. They have hotel apartment units that are furnished with all designer implements. They are the dream come true for people who only want the finest and most expensive designer homes.

And lastly, they have model flats that are patterned after iconic movie “home” sets. If you have favorite movies and you love their sets, the top real estate companies are ready to fulfill your fantasies.

So, what’s your dream home?

Anyway, whatever it may be, I think finding it will be easy. Real estate companies are conceptualizing home designs that are focused on turning dreams into reality. They may just already have what you’ve been dreaming of.
