Social Media Makes Job Recruitment Easy

Social media is now the gateway to recruitment for many employers. In fact, it seems to be out-weighing the effects of traditional job recruiting sites like Monster.com and Indeed. Businesses may need to think about their strategies for recruitment in different ways, because social media offers a plethora of avenues for vetting and finding potential hires.
According to a recent Forbes article on social media and job recruitment, traditional channels like school alumni and personal networks are not showing results. If companies do decided to stick with the traditional avenues for job recruiting, they risk wasting time.
According to Forbes, social media is a cheaper option for finding job candidates. Companies are especially better off using social media, if they have an established brand. This is because they are more likely to attract potential employees that fit their company culture (That’s a major plus in my opinion!). Also, social media allows companies to do soft background checks on potential hires. Social media can especially allows companies to get a feel for a candidate’s personality and passions.
Last but not least, social media allows businesses to access and utilize their current network of employees. Current employees can help build company culture awareness, and they help attract potential hires. A candidate can see what a employee at Company A looks like, and they can better understand the expectations of their future employer. It is no surprise that, now, universities and other institutions of education are preparing their students to use social media as a resource for job opportunities.
