I apply a specific procedure to my writing before I begin a rough draft. I cover the monitor of my laptop with a shawl so I cannot see what is on the screen. I freewrite for anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes about my chosen (or assigned) topic. I then reveal what I have written. This allows me to get my creative juices flowing without distraction. There is something so sixth sense about staring into blackness while conjuring images in my mind’s eye. No punctuation,mispelling, or blinking cursor urging me on. It is my own intimate procedure. I am at one with my craft; words transported from brain to fingertips to creation….
