The first thing I always say about racism is that it’s not a black people problem; it’s a white people problem. WP, “my people,” created the problem, so it’s up to us to fix it. I’ve known Maliks and I can’t blame them for how they feel and I won’t.

I am grateful for this message — life is all about being in relationship with one another. Living a truly blessed life is being in relationships with a diverse group of people you can call friends.

I try to hold myself accountable to that idea. Being white means I’m responsible for building bridges, walking across them, and not taking offense if a POC doesn’t want to be my friend.

I’m going to keep reading what you write. I’m also going to extend my hand in friendship — because I love making new friends and because you’re right — it does make a difference.
