A retrospective on how glowing skin went from elusive to effortless

My relationship with skincare products began early in life, before I even had worries about ‘dewiness’ or ‘glow’. In the nineties I had a coveted purple-glitter Caboodles, and I can still remember the Freeman’s Cucumber Mask I kept inside of it that I would slather on my face, only for the satisfaction of peeling it off in clear, dried glue like sheets. As young as ten, my Mom and I would put mud masks on while watching Friends, and the ritual was more novelty than regimen.
