Trump won’t accomplish much of anything. No wall. No Muslim ban.

But that isn’t what #nevertrump-ers are afraid of. We’re afraid of the violence that he is going to incite. Of him making hate crimes, racism, and xenophobia even more socially acceptable than he already has. And, perhaps most notably, of the likelihood that he would nominate up to three Supreme Court justices that would affect our country for generations to come — potentially restricting very important things like women’s rights.

What happens when his anti-Muslim rhetoric encourages an “us vs them” mentality among moderate Muslims who are being told they don’t belong in the United States — and when the hate they feel here pushes them towards racialization and into the welcoming arms of ISIS?

To suggest that a Trump presidency wouldn’t be a big deal because Trump is just a big buffoon who won’t actually have any effect on the country is, I think, very, very dangerous. Hillary is a lying sack of shit, but Trump is scary.
