The intrepid and exciting adventures of Chrissy Whitehouse aged 45 exactly.
Episode 1 – The time has come, the time is now!!!!!
Well folks this is it. The stuff is all packed down to 9 plastic containers and 1 coffee table…. The goodbyes have been said, the tears have been shed…. And now I’m off on this humongous adventure that is so big I still can’t get my head around it…. I mean what 45 year old packs up everything and walks away from her life, great job, amazing church, wonderful family and friends to go galavanting around the world……I do!!!!!!!! 😊😊😊
Because there is more….. And I want to go after it….I do not want to live an ordinary life…
So this blog will be my way of capturing this amazing time…..
Before I get into the update, I really want to take a moment to say a HUGE THANK YOU to you all for your love and support of me, and for believing in me….the words of encouragement, cards, generosity in gifts, the amazing farewells including the departure party and of course all of the help in words of advice, and/or physically helping me to get ready to go, all helped to encourage me and increase my excitement for this adventure…. So thank you very much…..I’m treasuring those moments in my heart….😊😊😊
Ok, here we go….. Travelling is really interesting….all these complete strangers hanging out together in airport lounges or sitting on planes for long hours…..it’s great for getting my people watching fix…. And the beginning and ending scenes of Love Actually always come to mind as I sit and watch and wait…..
I have to plug Emirates airlines at this point and of course my amazing travel agent Nich from STA Travel….. A fairly continuous stream of great food throughout both flights, great free entertainment options…. I got to watch Burnt, The Martian and Spectre which was cool….and of course the cameras that are situated at the front and underneath the plane were excellent to watch during take offs and landings so that I wouldn’t get travel sickness….
The funniest and quirkiest part of long haul flights is what I like to call the DVT dance….. For those of you that have experienced this, you know exactly what I am talking about…. The little stretching exercises that you do in your seat to keep circulation happening in your legs…. For some reason on these flights which is a complete mystery to me….the standing up and moving around the plane to stretch seemed to all happen in large groups….and because aisles and spaces outside the toilets are small, you end up in a kind of group dance as we circled around each other stretching…..very funny to watch, especially when we started to hit turbulence and the captain instructed everyone to go back to their seats….kind of like what happens when the music stops in musical chairs….
I arrived happily and safely in Hamburg at around lunch time Germany time today (23rd)and got my first look at this city whilst catching a bus from the airport to my friend’s apartment with her beautiful mum, Maria….there is a beautiful freshness about Hamburg and it wasn’t as cold as I expected it to be (6 deg). I love the beautiful architecture of the buildings as we travelled along the (wrong!!!!) side of the road….
So as I am now starting to feel a little tired and it has hit a reasonable time to go to bed, it’s off to the land of dreams I go…….😊😊😊😊😊💤💤💤💤
