EXTRA CREDIT “PASINAYA 2016”
Last February 7, we went to the Pasinaya 2016 Festival at CCP. It was a very reluctant moment for me because I love art. And knowing this event made me excited to attend it. I attended the Psinaya Festival not because it is a requirement. It is because I wanted to experience of watching almost 3000 artist performing, showing their talents and arts in front of you. I had watched different group of folk dancers dancing different ethnic dances. Even though I was standing in the back, I still enjoyed watching them. I also witnessed an artist sketching a girl with a pen. I was so fascinated to watch him do his sketch. The outcome of his sketch is good, i mean it was fabulous! Even though I wanted to experience it, I was a little bit late and when i got there it was already closed, and it broke my heart. I wanted to have that sketch but i can’t. I also saw many different art designs and paintings. Upstairs, there was a room where you can paint your own painting in a paper. There was also this sandals, or “bakya” in tagalog if I’m not mistaken, that has a design and different shapes at the bottom of it. You will wear it and step on a container with ink. Then you will stamp it in a big paper, and it will create a design. Afterwards, they post all the designs it the wall, and it made a very nice art.
Above all, my first experience in the Pasinaya was amazing. I love it and hope to attend again on the following years. I love attending events like Pasinaya because it make me feel at home. You know, the feeling of being at home because they show arts and ethnic dances that make you experience the life of a Filipino. It shows our norms and beliefs that was slowly vanishing nowadays. This kinds of events made me proud of having our culture and being a Filipino.
