Why you should use a VPN
Before we talk about what VPN’s are, we need to talk about how our devices connect to the internet when we make a web request
- Laptop connects to the internet through a router
- Router has a public IP address from ISP to connect to the internet
- When we make a web request our IP address is shared with everyone involved in order to know where to send all the requested data
- Web server logs who made requests and then returns the requested information

What is a VPN?
A virtual private network (VPN) is a piece of software that allows users to establish a secure connection to another network over the web. In other words, a VPN allows you to send and receive data in a safe online environment by encrypting your connection via a remote server.

When should I use this wizardy?
Whenever you want to ..
- Hide your location
- Encrypt your data
- Surf the internet anonymously
- Bypasses country restrictions
- Save money on airplane, rental, and hotels depending
It is entirely up to you when you want to use it, but I highly suggest using it when connected to a public hotspot. Anyone could be capturing your packets using a network analyzer tool like Wireshark
Be a CyberGhost
To use a VPN service all you need to do is download a VPN client. Most VPN’s have a no log policy which means they don’t record what sites you visit, make sure that they do not keep logs of users activity because the government can request those logs! The VPN I use is CyberGhost. The free version automatically connects you to a random server and there IS a wait time before you’re able to connect, but thats okay! Because its FREE. There are also VPN’s available for mobile that you can download directly from the app store, such as TurboVPN and ThunderVPN.
