We talk about this at my workplace and I’ve talked to women organizers of tech meetups for women. One thing I’m always curious and ask about, is how I’m supposed to help as a man. Is there an active way to do so? Oftentimes the answer I get is that the organizer/group is only looking for women to support/mentor other women to demonstrate that they don’t need a man’s help.
I can understand that.
That seems to imply to me that it’s really more on women to get out there and network, mentor, and support other women. That is also challenge because of the few women that stay in technology for their careers. I’ve also heard young women engineers may also feel imposter syndrome more strongly than their male counterparts.
Just wondering if you had thoughts on how to help?
