“Real GDP increased 1.6 percent in 2016 (that is, from the 2015 annual level to the 2016 annual level), compared with an increase of 2.6 percent in 2015 (table 1).”

A lot of what is attributed to whom is timing. Bush I averaged 2.2%. Bush II averaged 2.1%. Clinton gets credited with an average of 3.9 percent, but that’s mostly luck of timing. Obama (2009–2016) gets 1.8%, but again, there’s that element of timing. He did have to deal with the worst recession since the Great Depression.

Not a whole lot of difference one way or the other, if you actually look at the numbers.
