This article misses a big issue: There are levels of mental illness. Minor, moderate and severe and a lot of people even with severe mental illness are unlikely to be violent!
What we need to do? Look for signs of violence. Like in the case of the Columbine, Sandy Hook and Parkland shooters who had histories of violence against other people yet were never referred to mental health professionals even when school officials and parents raised the alarm about their behavior.
As to “We need more firearm LURRS!”… no. Not when the truth of the matter is that 99.9%+ of firearms are never used in a crime nor linked to a crime with the vast majority of those less than .1% of firearms left merely linked to crimes, i.e. within a square mile of a crime when it happens!
More restrictions that are only going to fall on law abiding citizens who follow the rules are not the proper path to take and never will be the proper path to take.
