Reacting to React: It’s really dumb.

As someone who’d only ever dabbled in JavaScript using jQuery, I found react and redux unbelievably easy to understand and use — it feels so intuitive and you only need to understand a few simple things to start making complex UIs: props, state, component, JSX, the render function.

The concepts behind react are so simple and refreshing that it has brought me back into JavaScript development more seriously. Within a week of learning it i was implementing interfaces I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing just using jQuery and server rendered views. Not having to deal with manually updating the DOM is a godsend.

I agree that getting up and running can be a pain, but this pain is a problem that can be solved — create-react-app does a damn good job of it.
