My name is Chris Trahos and I figured I’d start off my inaugural blog post with a description of who I am and what I’m passionate about. So let’s jump right in.

I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, which is just about a twenty minute drive outside of Washington, D.C. I was really fortunate to have the opportunity to go to some awesome schools growing up. I went to high school in Alexandria, Virginia at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes. I then went on to receive my undergraduate business degree and master’s degree from Georgetown University and my law degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Growing up, I had two main passions in life: sports and business.

I played all types of sports including football, basketball, and tennis. Without a doubt, football is my favorite sport, and that included being a die-hard Washington Redskins fan. That’s one of the reasons why as a freshman in college I started out working for the Georgetown football team as an undergraduate assistant, which eventually opened the door to working with the Washington Redskins as an 18-year-old intern in the team’s public relations department. A couple years later, I earned the opportunity to work in the team’s player personnel department as a contract and salary cap analyst where I worked on the negotiation and drafting of player contracts for both drafted and free agent players. What made those experiences so special was not only the type of work that I got to do, but the mentors who taught me so much during those stops.

Business was also a huge passion of mine. One of my earliest memories of being entrepreneurial was when I tried to sell hand-designed pencils when I was 8 years old. And by hand-designed, I mean took a box of wooden pencils and drew designs on them with colored pens. I tried to sell them for 25 cents to the only customer I had at the time, which was an older kid and friend in the neighborhood named Stephen, who bought one pencil from me. It might have been only one sale, but it was an awesome feeling and I was hooked from then.

Fast forward a few years, and I was in business school as an undergrad double majoring in Marketing and Management. I had some awesome professors who taught marketing, promotional strategy, and entrepreneurship. I got the chance to constantly discuss and brainstorm business ideas and trends in the market and work on some start-up companies. And, building off of the experiences I had playing team sports, I worked in dozens of teams (both good and bad) and had to find a way to produce a high quality product — whether it be a case analysis or marketing plan — each time.

Because of my passion for business and desire to work with start-ups, small businesses, and medium-sized businesses, I founded a business strategy and marketing firm called Mazzey. What I love about Mazzey is that it provides me the opportunity to work with different types of businesses to help them overcome challenges and fulfill their potential. Whether it’s finding ways for a business to be more cost-efficient, create a better customer experience, or execute an effective social media marketing plan, I get a huge sense of gratification from seeing hard work lead to positive results for a business.

So with that, you know a little bit about who I am, where I’m from, what I’ve done, and some of the things that I’m passionate about.

In my next post, I’ll lay out what type of content you can expect from me, and hopefully I’ll deliver enough value to you through this blog and the other social media platforms I’m on to earn your readership and following moving forward.
