Prevent iTunes From Opening When Bose SoundLink Mini Connected or Disconnected

I bought a Bose SoundLink Mini a few days ago. It’s a great bluetooth speaker - the sound quality is way beyond my expectations.

But if you’re using Bose SoundLink Mini with Mac, you may encounter an annoying issue: iTunes will auto open (and start playing music) whenever Bose SoundLink Mini is connected or disconnected.

I don’t know this is a bug or a “feature”, but fortunately, there’s a way to stop it:

  1. Open Terminal.app
  2. Copy and paste the following script into Terminal.app, then hit enter: sudo mv /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesBACK && sudo sudo mv /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesHelperBACK.app /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesHelperBACK.app
  3. Type your password and confirm
  4. That’s all (you may need to log out and log in again to take effect)

The only drawback of this method is you can’t open iTunes anymore. I am now using online music service instead of iTunes, so it’s OK for me. If it’s not OK for you and you really hate iTunes auto-opening itself, please write a feedback to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html.
