Prevent iTunes From Opening When Bose SoundLink Mini Connected or Disconnected
I bought a Bose SoundLink Mini a few days ago. It’s a great bluetooth speaker - the sound quality is way beyond my expectations.
But if you’re using Bose SoundLink Mini with Mac, you may encounter an annoying issue: iTunes will auto open (and start playing music) whenever Bose SoundLink Mini is connected or disconnected.
I don’t know this is a bug or a “feature”, but fortunately, there’s a way to stop it:
- Open Terminal.app
- Copy and paste the following script into Terminal.app, then hit enter: sudo mv /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesBACK && sudo sudo mv /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesHelperBACK.app /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunesHelperBACK.app
- Type your password and confirm
- That’s all (you may need to log out and log in again to take effect)
The only drawback of this method is you can’t open iTunes anymore. I am now using online music service instead of iTunes, so it’s OK for me. If it’s not OK for you and you really hate iTunes auto-opening itself, please write a feedback to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html.
