Harm

I have been thinking about this word”Harm” I mean what do we human beings know about this word aside from it being a part of the Hippocratic Oath, what does this word really mean? I went in search of definitions for this word, I wanted balance so I chose two different Dictionaries and two Thesauri definitions. First up, Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “Harm” as physical or mental damage or injury that causes someone or something to be hurt, broken, made less valuable or less successful. According to Advance English Dictionary “Harm” means impairment that causes the occurrence of a change for the worse. Now, I have chosen a few words from Roget’s International Thesaurus linked to the word “Harm” such as:unsuitability, detriment, disoblige, havoc. Finally, The Thinker’s Thesaurus says you can substitute “Harm” for noxious, destructive, wrongdoing, prohibited. My questions are: Do certain actions cause harm? Do certain inactions cause harm? Do expressed intentions cause harm? Is harm in the eye of the beholder?
