Losing my job, albeit temporarily, was oddly liberating over the long run. It made me realize like the Encino Man, the past is the past and there’s little better than getting on with things. I threw away everything related to my work when I started over and the clean out extended into piles of crap sitting at home that I thought had value or meaning. Most of it went out. It also made work a lot easier as I am secure in the knowledge that someone has already done the worst thing possible to me so why worry so much? Do your best work and things flow from that point.
