You are trying to explain game theory, in this case, multi-agent systems. This is already pervasive in the HFT (high frequency trading) domains. In simple terms, when designing your own HFT algorithm to beat the market, you have to take into account the other HFT algorithms that are also trying to beat the market. Sometimes this does not even have to take into account the intrinsic value of the securities — you just have to “beat the other algorithms”. An example to illustrate this would be the Flash Crash of May 2010.

In any case, the idea that money alone can take over the world is naive and simplistic. It does make for a “click-baity” headline though.
