Afraid of trying something new, and finding out you suck at it.
Afraid of starting a project, and find out later on that the idea was terrible to begin with.
Afraid of launching that business idea you’ve always had, and finding out there are no paying customers for your product.
Afraid of walking up to a pretty girl and asking her out on a date, only to find out she doesn’t find you attractive or interesting enough.
Afraid of asking a guy out for coffee, just because ‘girls aren’t supposed to ask guys out’.
Afraid of publishing a letter, because you fear some of your peers will make fun of your ‘new found inspiration’.
Nobody became good at anything without first giving it a try.
Nobody finished a project they never started.
Nobody runs a successful business they never launched.
No guy is having dinner right now with the girl of his dreams, without first having the courage to ask her out.
No girl is now hugging a guy she loves, without once taking the leap to tell him she was interested.
Nobody has gotten positive feedback for a letter they never published.
It’s easy to be afraid. But it’s also easy to have a boring life. Unless you suck it up and take some risks.
So go for it. Start. Launch. Ask. Call. Publish. Begin. As you’ll find over time, people care a lot less about your failures than you think. You’ve truly got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
