Make America Stop Actively Promoting Rapists For The First Time

People continue to talk about the whole Trump tape in an abstract way, completely removed from the situation, speaking and moving on. Not everyone, however, has that luxury. I do not.

Sexual harassment and assault is terrible. There should be a better word for it, but there isn’t. It’s just terrible. It robs someone of their security in their own body. And for those of you who don’t know that firsthand, I envy you. For those of you who have sat by while things like this have happened and you just tried to “stay out of it” — I envy (and detest) you. It is terrible on a personal level when your rapist’s face isn’t plastered all over news screens.

I can wholeheartedly assure you that having a Famous Rapist makes things a hell of a lot worse.

There is no way nobody in Hollywood knew that Trump was like this. He has said things that were arguably just as bad or worse in interviews, in magazines, on TV. Yet, we still made him famous. Famous enough to have household name recognition, famous enough to have songs written about him, famous enough to run for president. We have a problem on our hands and need to actively work to promote ethical people as celebrities.

There is also something more sinister, more disturbing, about these tapes. People literally still will vote for this man on Election Day. This is nausea-inducing, and I say this regardless of the fact that I have issue with everything else this man stands for.

I do not care how important or pivotal the issue — how much it would benefit you to see a rapist’s name branded cause enacted, how much this is for the “greater good”. I don’t care. If you support a rapist, that is unacceptable. And you will carry that on your conscience until the end, whatever you believe that may be. You, while doing something “for the greater good”, are helping a rapist to succeed.

This happens on both sides. Several women have come out and accused Bill Clinton of rape — too many, with too much evidence, for there to not be some truth behind it. I would not support him. I would not vote if it was between Bill Clinton and Trump. Call me crazy but I could not have enabling a rapist on my conscience. Those of you who know me well and my activism in certain local campaigns in my own interest have seen that firsthand.

Stop making rapists famous. Stop it. I don’t care what your reasoning is behind it. Do it for your daughters and wives (or sons and husbands), or do it because you just feel like rape victims are people. Just stop putting rapists faces in the news. Stop giving rapists money and opportunities. Stop letting rapists succeed.
