Would Democrats Be Better Off Without Pelosi?
David Eil

Whether or not Pelosi retires, Democrats need to come with a strong, positive, economic message, and that message is opportunity. For everyone. For too long Dems have been about carving out band-aid programs to supplement the crappy incomes poor and middle class Americans earn.

It’s not that Food Stamps is bad in and of itself — but it doesn’t solve any long term problems. And ultimately, people don’t want handouts — they don’t want to give them, nor do they want to receive them.

What they want is the opportunity to live a better life, and for that, we need to invest heavily in education and infrastructure, while either fixing Obamacare or going to a single payer system so that everyone has access to affordable healthcare. That has to be the Democratic message. I wrote about this recently.
