Instagram isn’t communicating well with Foursquare

Not anymore it is. It used to. But then Facebook entered the scene and Foursquare photo checkins via Instagram started getting mangled locations. Like this one today:

In the Instagram app, the location was set as Starbucks at Richmond Street West and Spadina. But in Foursquare, this location shows up as The Fashion District. The correct Foursquare location is here. But Instagram doesn’t want to use Foursquare venues and doesn’t seem to want to correctly map Instagram (Facebook) venues to Foursquare ones. So mismatches like these occur. Which is why I’ve moved most of my photo sharing to EyeEm, which still uses Foursquare as its location source.
