Years have gone by

Memories remain intact

Those black rocks there by the beach

Are calling us back

They showed us off to the world

The mermaids sang for us

And the oceans would become so calm

We’d sit from dawn till dusk

All of it seems like only yesterday

You were next to me

The world is but a cruel place

You have gone, never to be seen

A little thing called hope I had clung to

Was washed away in the sea

I pray you find peace and joy

Wherever you might be

I walked by the beach again

The black rocks where we’d sit

I was reminded of us as I passed those rocks

A young couple’s love was being lit

They were being shown off to the world

The mermaids were singing songs for them

And the oceans had become so calm

Their love was like ours — a gem.
