Blockchain technology offers tremendous opportunities for young startups in Nigeria to solve many of our nations’s problems, such as inefficient banking systems, expensive remittance services, poor land recording system, very ugly and embarrassing document verification systems, fraud laden voting system, and so on. Many of the problems facing Nigeria can be solved using blockchain Technology.
But the inability of the regulatory agencies and relevant authorities to come up with clear road maps and regulatory framework, have almost stifled the growth of this nascent technology. Elsewhere in Europe, America, Asia, even in neighbouring African countries like Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, blockchain technology is know to have began a revolution in the way they do business in those places. BitPesa is known in Kenya and Uganda, The Sun Exchange and Payfast are known in South Africa, Bitland is known in Ghana. Of the well over over 1,000 Blockchain companies in the world, Afica accounts for 1.45 of that number. Am still counting my fingers for Nigerian Blockchain startup businesses.
During the conference, industry experts from within the country and some others outside Nigeria will share their views and experience of the opportunities and challenges facing digital currencies such as bitcoin, ethereum and blockchain technology; as well as their impact on the current social, economic and political order.
Also expected, are industry practitioners from Banks, Insurance, Accounting firms, Stock brokers, Regulators and Law Enforcements. There will also be business sessions where financial opportunities in Cryptocurrency trading, mining and investing will be shared. The software developer community will enjoy special sessions, learning the basics of building Smart contracts with Solidity scripting language on the Ethereum platform building problem solving DAAPs. The discussion segments will offer anyone opportunity to ask any question and receive instant answers.
Beginning early in March 2017, when the Conference was first announced, hundreds of excited and anticipating Nigerians have thronged the registration portal to register for the event. Currently, registration is free, but fees may be charged in other to filter the massive in flock of registrants and avoid stampede!
We encourage everyone to spread the word about this event because this is a really good thing.
