To kill in God’s name…

To kill in God’s name, is to insult God, because you imply that God is too weak to defend himself. However, religion, especially as it is practised in our country, is a tool for mind control. He who can control the most minds, has a willing army to do what he wants. To “make the country ungovernable”, to remain relevant in the scheme of things, to win an election…

This is why the congruence of quite a number of factors begins to take on a certain aspect of synchronicity. The post-UME dismantling, which I complained about yesterday; the fact that most of the President’s appointments, in a “federation” such as ours, are from one part of the country; Ese Oruru, and the other girls; the killing of the poor lady in Kano, the intransigence of the herdsmen; the riot in Minna, again for “blasphemy”. These, and many more, are coming together just at the same time. It is no coincidence. Someone, somewhere, is flexing his muscles, and that person is putting up a display of power, demonstrating to people on all sides of the Nigerian divide, who really “owns” this country. To people in the South, he is showing that we are second-class citizens, to people in the North, he is proving that they are his vassals, and that the old order is still intact.

There is only one way to defeat this entity, and that is by unleashing the power of proper education on the masses of the North, as suggested by the great thinker, Bala Usman, three decades ago. It will not be easy. This enemy of progress will not go down without a fight, and sadly, the very people that need to be liberated, will be his foot soldiers. It will not be easy…
