Frequent transformer failures damaged household appliances

Uppalapdu: Uppalapadu village of Addanki Mandal in Bapatla District of Andhra Pradesh is without electricity for many times as the electric transformer got damaged plunging the entire area into darkness.

A high voltage power supply through a faulty transformer ended up damaging electronic appliances of the villagers.

A faulty transformer in the village was causing frequent voltage fluctuation which caused damage to electronic appliances of over a sizeable villager. Despite the complaints made by the residents to local electrical department, the issues were not resolved.

On behalf of the villagers, A social worker named Raghu Vullaganti approached the higher authorities of Electrical department in the local area and was able to get the resolution to the transformer failures within few days. Raghu Vullaganti said, “Due to high voltage power supply and lack of proper earthing, Televisions, Grinders, Refrigerators, and other electrical appliances have been damaged and caused big financial losses to the local farmers. Ground fault current directly has an impact on human safety. Major accidents happen due to improper earthing”.

Though the frequency of major transformer failures has been minimized, the villagers still face the power outages. Raghu Vullaganti raised the matter to the local authorities. He was told that an investigation has been initiated on failures of the power supply, and after the basis of the findings, appropriate action would be taken.
