A Lesson in learning and life.

This evening I went to see a movie alone. Yes, I said alone. And no this isn’t the first time I’ve done this. I decided to go and see Kevin Hart’s newest film co-starring Tiffany Haddish. I was expecting to see a hilarious movie, but I was not planning to walk away with a reminder of 3 of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life.

  1. ) There are NO shortcuts in life — There were a few parts of the movie where the main character kept trying to figure out a way to get his GED without actually studying and learning the material. After getting caught stealing the midterm and cheating his teacher made it clear that there are NO SHORTCUTS IN LIFE. You have to work your BUTT off to accomplish any goal or dream you have in life.
  2. ) Be Yourself — One of the issues with the main character in the movie is that he didn’t want to be himself. He made up a life to impress a girl he wanted to marry. The fake life backfired on him and it reminded me that you should NEVER pretend to be something or someone you’re not just to get someone to like you. Yes, we’re taught this as kids, but sometimes as an adult, you can fall prey to peer pressure and find yourself playing an acting role in your OWN life.
  3. ) Anything Is Possible — Only if you don’t give up. The main character in the movie had to take the test about five times before finally passing and getting his GED. It reminded me that for anything I feel strongly about no matter how many times I get told no I need to KEEP TRYING. It affirmed that EVERY SINGLE dream and goal I have is possible.

Night School turned out to be way better than I expected because of emphasis on principles that we often forget. Watching this movie was the perfect way to start my week I encourage anyone who wants to laugh while being inspired, to see it.
