Go outside. Strip yourself off responsibilities. Don’t hold yourself back. Hop on the bus at 4am whilst the city’s still asleep. Leave it behind for a day or two for an affair with the outdoors. Head north or south, whichever you prefer. Go where your soul wants to take you; where it wants to be. Go alone or with someone else’s company. It’s okay to be sticky and sweaty in a non-aircon bus. It’s okay to get puked on by a kid who can’t handle the winding road. It’s okay if all the seats are taken. Stand on the aisle, or better yet, sit on it. You’re uncomfortable? That’s good. At least you’re experiencing something new rather than being in a four-cornered room wishing you were somewhere else. Sacrifice comfort for new experiences. Walk barefoot. Mud isn’t as bad as it looks. It actually feels nice between your toes. Feel the Earth right beneath your feet. Breathe salty air from the ocean and crisp winds from the mountains. Let it fill your lungs. Don’t take the easy route. Take risks, but be cautious. Cross rivers or climb to the summit for a million dollar view. Your lungs and legs would want to fail you, but they won’t, and I promise, it will be worth it. Hydrate, always. Plunge into the sea. Float in the water with the sun on your face. Coconut oil will be your new best friend. Take a bath in the cold spring. Your best shower will be from a waterfall. Remember to pack sandwiches. Don’t litter. We only have one home — nurture it. Meet new people especially the locals. Exchange kindness and stories. Sleep in a tent or hang your hammock on a sturdy branch at the park, or stay in a shabby inn worth 300 bucks. You’re gonna miss the comfort of your own bed/toilet, nonetheless it’s experiences like these that are worth telling. Your soul is lusting for the unfamiliar, for something new, for raw moments. Satisfy it. Let these moments swallow you whole. Live. Flirt with life and feel feverishly alive. ♡
