Comparison of Scrum and Kanban
Advantages and Disadvantages of Scrum
The widespread use of Scrum already shows that it works as a tool and many projects have been carried out to the satisfaction of the stakeholders. When introducing Scrum into a conventionally run organization, clear Scrum guidelines and instructions are an advantage. However, this strict structure can also prove to be a disadvantage over time.
Advantages:
- Promotes team spirit.
- Promotes personal responsibility in the team.
- Relief of management/project management.
- Improvement process integrated through retrospectives.
Disadvantages:
- Less predictability: At the beginning of the project, it is hardly possible to make a reliable statement about the effort.
- Inertia: Changes and new requirements can only be implemented in the next sprint.
- The work within the sprint is not very structured.
- Towards the end of the sprint, the workload of the development team increases.
