Daily Devotional: Jesus’ Feeds

Daily Devotional: Don't Be Simple

“Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Proverbs 9:5 ESV

God continues to call us to come eat with Him. He talks about eat of His bread and His drink. He does this because there is something special about what God offers us versus what the world produces. God’s bread is hand crafted and made with detail. A baker has to be very precise about the ingredients and the amount of each one for the bread to come out successfully. God has done the same thing for the bread and wine that comes from Him. We must turn our eyes to God so what we can see how so much better is my bread and drink.

Extended Version:

The Christian is blessed because we know that God’s bread and wine are Jesus. It is all that Jesus’ encompasses. It is His sacrifice and His wisdom. It is His love and devotion to us and the Father; It is His example. We must eat from the Word. We must remember the blood He shed and His broken body. Let God’s Word and The Word, Jesus, be the nourishment that we seek and desire. Let us not be blinded by the good foods that God has created and miss the satisfying taste of being with God. Seek the Lord earnestly and you will realize nothing taste better!

Challenge:

Give up one of your lunch breaks this week and eat of God’s Word.

Prayer:

Lord, I ask that you help me appreciate your bread and wine more. In Jesus name, amen!

Additional Scripture:

And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, Matthew 26:27 ESV

This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. John 6:50 ESV
