Daily Devotional: Sin Makes Sense to the Sinner

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice. Proverbs 12:15 ESV

Talking to a fool is hard. We all have experienced moments of foolishness, and in those times no one can ever get through to us. God wants His children to be wise and be able to take advice. The ability to listen and take someone’s advice is a sign of humility. A wise man benefits from humility because he knows that his eyes are limited to what he can see. The believer needs to have a strong counsel of believers to be able to seek.

Extended Version:

Humility is not about belittling yourself. Humility is about having a correct perspective of self, others and God. When we have a proper perspective of things, we can see that God’s wisdom is more valuable than having power and riches. A person that is not humble just deceives himself and is headed down a path of the foolish. Be wise and humble yourself before God.

Make a list of the last ten big decisions you have made. Next to each one write: Yes to it if you sought God diligently for advice or No if you made the decision yourself.

Lord, I need more and more wisdom. I want to glorify you in all I do, and I know I can’t do it without your wisdom. In Jesus name, amen!
