Daily Devotional: The Dead Are There

But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. Proverbs 9:18 ESV

We must remember to be really alive as God has defined it is to be with Him. When we are tempted into sin and unfavorable situations we must remember that the dead live there. Most of us have a discomfort of going into a cemeteries, but we forget that a person that isn’t living for Christ is just as dead as the person living in sin. We must be watchful; we cannot join them in that sin. Our duty is not to encourage or support them but to show them a better way with our actions and our words.

Extended Version:

The living dead are walking in their shame thinking that it is glory. They think that the sweets that they taste are all good, but it is decaying their teeth. They living dead are in places that support their living. They are of this earth, while we are from our Father. We have been adopted by God through the work of Jesus on the Cross. We know this but those who do not have forgotten that the same God that died on the cross was the same God that created the heavens and the earth. Stand firm in the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that God has given us and don’t be of this world.

Think of someone that is living in sin and/or doesn’t have a relationship with God. Write down 5 ways that you can start showing them God’s love and way.

Lord, I am willing to go into the dark places of this world for you. I need you to keep me from evil so that I don’t fall into a trap.

Additional Scripture:

They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. Psalm 82:5 ESV
For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 2 Peter 3:5 ESV
