I appreciate this article. I think it misses one obvious explanation though: Meat has foreign animal histamine markers. It triggers an immune response that is like a low grade cold and this is measurable in blood biomarkers such as elevated white blood cells for hours after eating meat. Fever is a common response when fighting illness and so is increased metabolism to increase core temperature.
