TROUVAILLE

Being a student is so much more than just learning inside the four corners of the classroom and studying inside the comfort of each of our homes. It is about creating something that inspires others, molding a bright future, and choosing the right relationships. Life as a student may not always be perfect, but it is also not always blemished. It is a perfect balance of right and wrong decisions, sunny and stormy weathers, and a mixture of in-between- perfect for experience gathering.

College has been full of surprises. There will be subjects that you never expect you will take and projects that you never expect you will make. In our case, it was a surprise to make a promotional video about our school, Hua Siong College of Iloilo. As a subject, We expected IT Application Tools in Business to be more on spreadsheets and worksheets, and to be in front of the computer most of the time. However, it was different. It was actually better- full of experiences and fun-filled.

Just like any other projects, this one has its own ups and downs. Our group has experienced a lot of difficulties before we could come up with this five-minute video. We wanted to make a video that has a unique concept. Having four other groups, it was hard to think of something different. We have been short of ideas and inspiration. We also had a hard time balancing everything out- quizzes, projects, school events, and a lot of deadlines to catch.

We also had to borrow the equipment that we needed. The supposed dates of shooting were rescheduled just to fit the events of the school during weekends and holidays. Instead of resting, we need to wake up early just so we could shoot some clips for our promotional video. When we got to the locations that we planned, there one outfit to another, no matter how tiring it was. Walking around the busy streets on a hot afternoon was extremely frazzling for us. Managing our time just so we could shoot and get to school afterwards to attend our next class on time was also a problem for us.

We also had to delete some clips that we actually needed to complete our video because we had no permit to shoot in that certain area. Some guards were kind enough to let us shoot, so we had to set up our equipment very quickly and start shooting. After being all worn out and tired of all the shooting, we still need to listen to our class because it is were still problems. We need to shoot quickly because we had no permit to shoot. Since this is our first time, the idea of getting permits before shooting never really crossed our minds.
So, in order to get the clips that we needed, we started when there were no guards around. It was exhausting to get from one location to the other, bringing our bags and equipment along with us. We had to change from one of our major subjects. And after a very long day, we had to study and do our assignments when we get home. There was absolutely no time to rest. The editing of the photos, teasers, and of course, the final video was a big problem. None of us in the group knew how to edit. We had to watch a lot of Youtube videos just to learn how to get a better angle for videos, to know editing applications to use, how to edit photos nicely, and how to create a story from different clips to make our two teasers and our final video. Instead of spending our time with our family, we spent it with each other, dealing with our problems in this subject.

Even after all of those difficult moments that we have experienced, there were also memorable ones which we appreciated. Without this project, we would not have been able to be together as a group for such a long time. We are actually thankful that despite the hard times, this project has brought us all closer to one another. We were all from the same school last school year, but we did not know each other personally. From strangers, we became friends because of this project.
It was one long fight, but just like any other storms, the sun finally made its way and shone its light upon us. The road was bumpy but it still led us to our goal. That is what we wanted to show our audience. No matter how tough everything may seem to be right now and nothing is working at this moment, with the right persons, everyone could finish the race. We would also like to say that where you came from will really help in molding the person that you want to become. Go where your heart tells you to go. And wherever you are right now, grow. Bloom where you are planted and grow gracefully. As they say, you are a product of wherever you are from. Because of that, we should choose wisely where we want to grow because it would be a reflection of ourselves.

Our video is mainly about how Hua Siong College of Iloilo has brought many individuals to success. We are looking forward to be one of the people who would also bring pride and honor to this school someday.

Out of curiosity, people would ask us why our group name is “Cinco Luna”. Why? Cinco is a Spanish word for the number five. Our group consists of only five members because we believe that less is more and that we could share our ideas freely in a smaller group. Luna, on the other hand, is a goddess, an ancient Roman personification of the moon, the Earth’s satellite, and it means “moon” in Latin. The moon is also a feminine symbol and we think it was perfect to be our logo since we are all girls in this group. We chose a bright yellow moon in a black background to emphasize that in darkness, there would always be light. Just like the moon, we also undergo phases. And for us humans, those phases would be learning, letting go, and growing. All of those phases are what we expected to witness from each other in Hua Siong College of Iloilo. We wanted to learn something new everyday, to let go of the chains of the past, and to grow as better individuals.

As this project comes to an end, we would like to thank every person who made this possible for us. We would like to show our greatest appreciation for each of our members for their contributions, our family and friends for the support, and of course, our teacher for this subject for being patient with us as he taught us things.
May we always look back to what we have learned and apply it to our everyday living. As students of this modern generation, we hope to instill in each of our minds that technology is one of the greatest blessings that we could receive and at the same time, one of the biggest curses if not used wisely. Never take your classes for granted because each seed of wisdom is needed in order for a tree of knowledge to grow.
“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.” Bill Gates
