Canada Immigrants scholarship Board has provided scholarship to over 4000 Immigrants in the past decade. The main purpose of this is to reduce crime rate among immigrants, help less privileged geniuses attain their full potential and giving immigrants an opportunity to a better life.

Ever since the advent of the scholarship board in the year 2005, CISP has made it a sole purpose to produce outstanding immigrant scholars all over Canada.

Before the year 2017 the program was restricted to Immigrants in Canada only, not until the board deemed it fit that nationals from developing countries can also apply but mandating them to return to their home country after completing program of study, in other to utilize their professional knowledge to contribute to the development of their beloved country. The Scholarship program is opened to aspiring applicants all over Africa as long as he/she meets the requirements for application.

We are currently linked to one educational institution which is the University of Guelph.

The 2021 application window for applicants is opened on the 5th of July and closing on the 31st of October.

Who is Eligible to Apply ?

Anyone willing to apply must meet the following criteria;

  1. Candidate must be a citizen of an African developing country and must not hold dual citizenship to any developed nation
  2. Candidate must be in good health with no form of underlying illness.
  3. Undergraduate Applicant must have an O’level (secondary level result) result acceptable at international level with a minimum of 4 credit in major subject.
  4. Applicant must have no form of criminal record or relating issues.

Post graduates applicant must hold a bachelor’s(or similar) degree along side secondary result. Only degree attained at most 7 years prior to application date is valid for use.

All eligibility criteria are strictly adhered to and there would be no exception made for what so ever reason, however this information is subjected to change over time.

How to Apply for Scholarship

this point is divided into 2 stages.

STAGE 1

Send a well written application letter containing program of choice to the scholarship processing email address CISPregistration@outlook.com along side scanned copy of National ID, Secondary result, Degree certificates (for post graduate applicant).

CISPregistration@outlook.com is the official email address to forward your application letter to. After submission, review and approval, candidate would be informed on the next level of processing and would be awarded a personal online guide

NOTE; candidates are required to utilize only one email address for processing, failure to do so would lead to automatic disqualification.

Selection Process

Successful candidates would be selected based on previous academic performance, program of study and how well application letter is written.

STAGE 2

Successful candidates at this level would be required to make a onetime online payment for registration of aptitude test

NOTE: Test fee varies by country.

DISCLAIMER: CISP has no commission on test fee, all test fee goes directly to the Test center.

  1. After payment has been made you would be directed to a CBT test center listed on the scholarship board to complete documentation (Candidates are to go with all the documents mentioned in stage1 both original and photocopy) and register for Oral & written test. Candidates would be given brochure which would serve as a guide on what to expect in the test.
  2. After registration is done, candidates would be informed his/her test date through email address.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Only 1500 applications would be accepted. Application window would be closed immediately application number is reached, applicant that is yet to complete processing would be disqualified, therefore candidates are required to complete admission process as early as possible.

Selection Process

The CISP uses the following process to review eligible scholarship applications from developing country nationals, with the aim of identifying the candidates with the highest potential, after completion of their graduate studies, to impact the development of their countries.

Two qualified assessors independently review each eligible application and score the application on a scale of 1 to 10, taking into account four main factors and the degree of cohesion among them:

  1. Performance in Spoken English (30% weight)
  2. Performance in Oral Test (30% weight)
  3. Quality of Commitment to your Home Country (10% weight)
  4. Performance in Use of English CBT (30% weight).

Candidates must have a total of 65% to be eligible for scholarship.

The CISP Secretariat presents the finalists for the Participating Program scholarship to the CISP Steering Committee (composed of members of the United Nation of Directors and management) for approval. Winners are notified soon after the CISP Steering Committee approval.

Scholarship Benefits

The CISP scholarship provides the recipient with the following benefits:

* Economy class air travel between your home country and the host university at the start of your study program and immediately following the end of the scholarship period. In addition to the two-way air travel, scholars will receive a US $500 travel allowance for each trip;

* Tuition for your graduate program and the cost of basic medical insurance obtained through the university.

* While on campus during the scholarship period, a monthly subsistence allowance to cover all living expenses (accommodations, food, etc., including books). The amount of the allowance varies according to program of study.

The CISP scholarship does not cover:

* VISA application costs

* Expenses to bring and/or support a scholar’s family members;

* Extra-curricular courses or training;

* Courses that do not meet the minimum credits required to earn the graduate degree;

* Language training for non-English speaking candidates would not be provided by the graduate program;

* Additional travel during the course of the study program;

* Expenses related to research, supplementary educational materials, field trips, participation in workshops/seminars, or internships; or

* Educational equipment such as computers.

* Resident permit fee

Note: The CISP scholarship may only supplement, and does not duplicate, any other source of financial support/fellowship you might have. If you are awarded a scholarship, you must inform and document to the CISP at that time if you have other sources of scholarship funds.

Successful scholarship candidate at university of Guelph will receive special assistance at the university with visa applications, English language study, housing, and have access to an advisor specifically for international students.

Candidates applying for courses pertaining to areas of economic, health, tax policy and infrastructure development would be considered the most.
