Haikus & Quatrains
(originals, to practice structure)
Pointed crescent moon,
Its tip caught on yesterday,
Cannot untangle.
—
Moonless evening fog:
Birthday candle smoke snuffed out
Before the song ends.
—
Steam from honeyed tea
Rising from every chimney —
Hence — Afternoon clouds.
—
Birthday Party Blues
Elegies for simple things,
For death is not that rare:
The red balloons that made her cry —
Have swelled with too much air.
—
I thought green eyes meant greener worlds
And blue sees underwater.
But why is it, a glance at you
Could flash so red a hue?
—
Starlight Hospitality
Pay your respects to the sky weary photons,
Temporary guests, just specks of dreams,
All light-years from home, no desire to stay:
Bundles of energy tumble past memory.
