What is Citify Marketplace ?
Citify Marketplace is an online eCommerce for local merchants to sell their merchandise online. The idea was inspired when it was revealed that 80% of local merchants do not sell online nor do they have an online presence at all. Also, it became clear that retailers and local merchants, suppliers where suffering and losing money with irreparable losses for local economies due to many factors, one in particular is the presence of other online predatory online marketplaces like Amazon, and others.
We believe that Citify would benefit both merchants and consumers alike. We imagine that it would allow consumers to search and find local products and services, a consumer can hop from one store to the next online, discover new brands, purchase local products without the need of visiting the actual store, or they can plan purchases before hand if they decide to visit a store. The benefit for merchants is that they are able to sell online without the huge price tag that is often associated with building an online eCommerce store and sell online with the added benefit of shared marketing costs and share online traffic.
Citify also seeks partnerships with local delivery providers that can deliver any product from store-to-consumer in matter of hours to minutes depending on location. The benefits of this model is better than the current online marketplace models. The idea of providing local delivery will create an almost instantaneous reception of any local product into the consumer hands.
Citify believes that the merchant is permitted to serve their clients as they like. It is their reputation on the line. They can use their boxes, their logo, their shipping provider, they answer their clients questions, and they set their prices. We absolutely will never compete with merchants and their products.
Citify’s mission is to help local merchants and service providers to find their clients and for clients to discover new local brands, stores, and services that would otherwise be hard to discover and to be a platform in which both merchants and consumers can find a safe home to shop and sell local and unique products.
Citify believes in freedom of speech, so we are not on most major social media, in fact, we believe the future will not be with tradition social media, but with sites like Minds, GAB, MEWE, Parler, Medium. Our aversion to using traditional social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, etc etc is due to the fact that we do not like their obvious use of censorship and skewing algorithms. Censorship and messing with algorithms is always bad for business and we simply do not trust them for any marketing effort because of this fact.
Citify is crypto friendly. Anyone can earn Sharcoin if they share products or services available on Citify. Merchants can manually accept crypto for any product they like. We are also looking into crypto payments for services and we do have our own Crypto exchange powered by Coinswitch. We have in the past tried unsuccessfully an ICO called Citifycoin to raise funds for this project. We hope to find a way to include our own native coin on the site someday.
In conclusion, Citify is an awesome project with a lot of possibilities and advantages for both merchants and shoppers. It will, so we think, be great for the local economy as local shoppers will be paying local stores that in turn will encourage the growth of local economies.
