Community Calendar: Good Mondrian Morning (2/22/2016)
Good Mondrian-morning CivicHacks,
This newsletter is designed for skimming and clicking.
Welcome to a weekly curation of events we want to highlight and bring to your attention. They were placed and plucked by hand from our Community Calendar, a Google-based calendar that you can syndicate and manage based on the ‘Tracks’ that you love the most, e.g., Social Impact, Tech & Science, Fun, etc.
First up, some updates from the community.
1. STARTUP STORYTELLERS: PATH OF THE LEGEND
We announced the launch of Startup Storytellers: Path of the Legend. At this meaningful experience on April 6th at the Columbus Museum of Art, an unprecedented 20+ entrepreneurs will share their story — including the challenges — helping us relate to how they have and are making it, and better understand our own path. Be inspired by stories of Nancy Kramer, Jeni Britton Bauer, Abed Al Shahal, Joe DeLoss, Zach Weprin, Demetrius Curry, Chris Hawker, Josie Schweitzer, Yohannan Terrell, Weston Wolfe and more!
Last year, this event sold out two weeks before the event. Grab your ticket today (and get a significant discount by engaging with us). Please note that we’re also making space for 225 high school students who may never get a chance to be exposed to their own path, and upon checkout, you’ll have an opportunity to sponsor them at the event.
2. TEST CITY, U.S.A. MEET-N-GREET
Last year we created a Humans of New York-inspired blog for Columbus called Test City, U.S.A. Our version includes the name of the neighbor along with a short version of their story. Over the past few months, an impressive team has organized to take this project to the next level.
You are invited to a Test City, U.S.A. Meet-n-Greet on February 29 from 6–8 PM to meet some of the people we’ve profiled, see if you want to be a contributor in anyway (contributor, photog, video, distribution), and brainstorm with us to make this a world class-storytelling media platform started right here in America’s heart center.
3. GIVEBACKHACK 1st PLACE WINNER, SPREADS TO OTHER CITIES
GiveBackHack, similar to Startup Weekend for impact ideas, hosted their business presentations last night. In case you missed it, this crew took first place withOmnibus (promo video). Great job to the organizers, sponsors and participants for another fun event. And high-five to GBH for launching to other cities!
4. SOCIAL IMPACT ACCELERATOR PROGRAM
SEA Change is a new social enterprise accelerator that just launched in Columbus. They are looking for those with transformative ideas for social impact that generate a sustainable revenue stream. The accelerator is a 12-week online course plus weekly in-person sessions that will begin in May and culminate in a demo day in August. Applytoday or email email@example.com for questions.
