The Care Bears which captured the attention of children and parents have been called cute, cuddly, and adorable for years. These bears were created by artist, Elena Kucharik, in 1981.

The Care Bears have always been a crowd favorite. Kids loved their soft, cuddly appearance, and parents loved the unique message that came along with each bear. With over 30 years of history, these lovable characters are still popular today.

When the bears boomed into a fad, I joined the rest of the public in loving and wanting them. The colorful bears with images on their tummies became soft teddy bears in 1983. They also became a part of a nursery for my daughter’s room which was labeled the Care Bear room. Cheer Bear was one of my favorites. My daughter who is now a mother still has all the bears and Care Bear cousins including the miniature figurines.

From 1985 to 1988, the Care Bears had their own cartoon series. There were also three movies made. What’s so special about these bears is more than the colors they come in; they also have a picture on their stomachs to smile about. The same can be said about the Care Bear Cousins like Brave Heart Lion or Loyal Heart Dog.
