Labour Market Research and Data presentation: By: Dr. Cleophas Justine Pierre (Labour Market and Migration Consultant)

Results from the first-ever Black Rapid Labour Marker Needs Assessment in Canada.

There has never been a Black Labour Market Needs Assessment in Canada’s history (1867 to 2022).

According to Statistics Canada, there are approximately 1.5 million Black people in Canada, with about 147,000 self-identified combined Black Business owners and Black Self-employed (2022).

The Dependence ratio of Black people in Canada is approximately 40%.

The average age of a Black person in Canada is 29.8 when compared with the general population of 41.2. (Most Black people are young and unemployed.)

However, for this exercise, we are focusing on Black employers…

The Black Business population was estimated at 27,640 businesses (July 2022) and 78,316 Black Business owners. ( Approximately 2.8 Black business owners per Business).

86% of all Black #Businesses in Canada are Nano firms with less than three employees, and most of them are based in Ontario (over 50%).

The Business-to-population ratio (BPR) for Black people in Canada is 2.6%. Compared with a business-to-population ratio of 10.12% of the general Canadian population.

The average Business to population ratio in the USA is 18.6%. However, when we isolate the 17 wealthiest states in the USA, the BPR is 28.6%

As Black people in Canada, this means we cannot employ our children because we do not have enough Black businesses to use their resources. This is one of the main reasons we have so much unemployment and underemployment in our community.

We need more Black Labour Market Consultants and better Black researchers who would conduct research in the interest of Black Canadians.

We also need 60,000 Black businesses in Canada by 2028, with an average of 5 employees. This goal would create perfect employment in the Black community.

This is what data can do from our Applied Intelligence model!!

Perfect employment goal for 2028( 60,000 Black Businesses X 2.8 Business owners to Black businesses = 168,000 Black business owners. Plus 60,000 Black business times, five employees per business = 300,000 employees. ( 300,000 + 168,000 = 468,000 Black people employed. (Perfect employment by 2028)

To make decisions, you need data, and at Dunn Pierre Barnett and Company, Canada Ltd, we have the evidence, and we have the largest database on Black people worldwide, including Canada. (Over 80 million people have completed our surveys from (2005 to 2023).
