Mark Steines

Mark Steines is a three-time Emmy award-winning journalist. He has interviewed 100s of A-list actors, producers, musicians and athletes. He has worked with Entertainment Tonight for 17 years and now is the co-host of Hallmark Channel’s Emmy-nominated “Home & Family.”

Mark Steines was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He says, “It was there I
learned the value of an honest day’s work, and because of my roots, I have always felt deep respect for those who tend the land.”

He attended the University of Northern Iowa on a full football scholarship, and graduated with a degree in Radio and Television. He had begun his broadcast career as a regional sports reporter and through multiple unexpected events, “landed in Los Angeles to ultimately work on national television.”

He has also “studied comedy at the renowned school of improv, The Groundlings, and earned a degree from JoAnn Baron/DW Brown Acting Studio’s Meisner Technique training.”

During his amazing 17-year tenure with Entertainment Tonight, he states, “I had the fascinating job of interviewing 100’s of A-list actors and producers while also traveling to the biggest movie sets in the world. I’m honored to have received multiple Emmy awards and a Golden Mic Award.”

Along with the above accolades, Mark has also been featured in People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue and Men’s Fitness Magazine’s “25 Fittest Men in America.”

Mark states that he is blessed to be a co-host of Hallmark Channel’s Emmy-nominated “Home & Family”; which is a daily lifestyle show. “Since becoming part of this creative family in 2012, I’ve enjoyed informing and entertaining our audience with everything from DIY, to celebrity and expert guest interviews, cooking, and fun game segments. Along with my co-host Debbie Matenopoulos, we are invited into homes across the country each weekday for two hours. It’s a responsibility to be well-informed and provide our viewers with useful and positive programming. I could not have expected that I would meet my wife, children’s book author Julie, on set with her little 3-lb. therapy [dog], Norbert.

So Home & Family has extra special family significance for me. Our
daughter, Parker Rose, was born last year. Needless to say, I am grateful
to be a part of it all.”

Mark Steines’ three pieces of advice as an Emmy award-winning journalist include: being a learner, having integrity, putting yourself out there, and being grateful.

Be an avid learner — “It’s important to be an avid learner who is open to new experiences. We live in a constantly-changing world, so it’s necessary to keep up with current topics, issues and opportunities. Be fascinated with the world,
and don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and cultivate your own personal
growth. You might surprise yourself.”

Have integrity — “It is essential to have integrity by being your honest self through each step of your unique life’s journey. When you know who you are as a person and stay true to yourself, even in the face of new challenges, you will be able to navigate your way.”

Put yourself out there — “Put yourself out there, take risks, and to be willing to test your own limits. Personal growth and the ability to take on new roles, to engage with new people, to try one’s hand at new things has kept my own work fresh and my outlook one of continuing possibility. You have a more exciting and rewarding life when you envision an expanded view of yourself.”

Be grateful — “Be grateful for the opportunities that come your way, and learn from those things that don’t go as planned. Your outlook matters, especially through life’s inevitable challenges.”

Mark Steines plans for the future include being a “continuing part of the entertainment industry as a rewarding way to serve the public good. I look forward to watching life unfold for my two teenage sons and my baby daughter. I look forward to sharing life with Julie, and taking many, many photographs to tell the stories of the years ahead.”
