Different
Culture has rules and you should (not) follow them.
There are agreed upon rules and regulations in every part of life. Both formal and informal guidelines that set up our social structure. In a lot of ways these rules take the thinking out of situations and are positive for all parties involved.
But their overarching existence has led to a cognitive dissonance that limits the mindset of humanity as a whole.
“I have to do X because everyone does X”
Do you want to end up like other people?
Maybe some people. There are good role models out there.
But do you want to end up as an average person?
What does the average westerner look like? (BMI 26.6)
Are they happy? (21% mental illness rate)
How much money do they make? ($31,133)
The current social structure that society has created is not producing great results. Westerners are less healthy than ever, physically, mentally, and economically.
And things are not getting better in these areas.
Stop feeding into the normative rules of society.
You don’t need to spend 2 hours a day looking at your Facebook feed. Focus on improving your own life, not watching the lives of others.
Start rejecting the normality of mental illness and physical illness. Humans are not meant to live in states of mind that produce chaos, yet we have normalized it and cheer them on via social media.
Stop empowering self deprivation when you see it. Rather than liking posts regarding unstable mental health, reach out to the individual and offer to talk to them about their issue.
When we help others we help ourselves.
Stop fighting for equality for models of all sizes. Being size 32 is not a healthy situation for any body regardless of genetics and body type.
We just went through a pandemic that ravaged unhealthy individuals at disproportionate rates.
Stop normalizing being broke. If you are struggling with money, start educating yourself. Money is a system and when you better understand how it works you are better equipped to handle your finances responsibly.
It is possible to get ahead financially.
Overall reject the rules that culture places on you.
When we fall into the trap of our current culture, we become a reproduction of the culture.
You were not created to live a life of struggle.
There’s a better way to live. Happier, healthier, and better off.
