In this post, I’m going to introduce the types of bans in Pokemon Go, why it happens, and of course, the one you cared most — how to remove the bans.
As Pokemon Go is appealing to many players around the world. Despite the questions of installing/running, some players are frustrated about receiving a warning/ban.
Although this is not usually happened, I’d still like to explain and list the causes of bans, to throw light on the issue and maybe, offer assistance to avoid these bans.
Let’s dive right in.
Types of Ban
1. Softban
Softban is like a slap on the wrist. It has a time limit from 4 hours to 12 hours. Within the period, players will be suffered from the following punishments:
a. Not able to catch a Pokemon (except Raid Bosses);
b. Couldn’t loot from PokeStops;
c. Couldn’t get the rewards of stored quest
2. Shadow Ban
Shadow Ban is relatively painful for some players. Although it doesn’t affect catching Pokemon, hatching eggs or spinning stops, the player being banned is not able to see any rare Pokemons.
It doesn’t have an exact time period for Shadow Bans, but mostly, this ban would last for 30 days.
3. Temporary Ban
This type of Ban is very similar to those bans in other games. Your account will be locked for 1 or 2 months. If your account’s been temporarily banned, there’s a pop-up message showing “Failed to Get Game Data” when you’re trying to login.
4. Permanent Ban
Here comes the severest punishment — Permanent Ban, which means you’re not able to login your account anymore. The only way to enjoy Pokemon Go again could be creating another account, while is a huge loss to loyal players.
Well, these bans seem to get us walking on the blade when playing Pokemon Go. But, as I mentioned previously, all these bans rarely happen. As soon as we figure out the causes, bans will probably stay far away from us.

Causes of Bans
1. GPS Moving Too Fast
If the location of your GPS changed rapidly, or too far from where you login in a short time, you’ll be Softbanned for normally 4 hours.
So if you use GPS Spoofing, don’t make it too far from your home :) By the way, don’t play Pokemon on a driving car or high-speed railway.
2. Catch Too Many Pokemon a day
There’s a catching limit of 1000 pokemon per day, or 7000 Pokemon per week. If the amount is exceeded, your account will be Softbanned.
3. Spinning Too Many PokeStops
There’s another limit of spinning 2000 PokeStops per day. Don’t exceed it or you’ll get a Softban.
4. Sharing Account
When one account logged in different locations at the same time, the system will treat it as “hacking”, while your account would be Temporary Banned.
Keep your own account.
5. 3+ Accounts in the Same IP location
If the system detected 3 accounts with the same IP location, all of these accounts will be Temporary banned.
6. Botting
Even though botting is quite convenient for upgrading or doing other things, don’t use it. The account would be Permanent Banned if being detected.
7. 3rd Party Apps
Usually, playing with a 3rd party app such as IV Checker or Blossoms Pokemon Go Manager, and logs into the account would cause a Shadow Ban.
8. Reported by other players
If you’re playing Pokemon Go in an abnormal way, don’t piss others off.
What if our account still be banned? Don’t worry, keep pulling down.
A Way to Deal With Bans
When there’s a message showed “Failed to Get Game Data”, or “ Account Banned”, it means appearing, your account is banned. So how could we bring it alive? Here I’d like to introduce an official way that proved to be effective according to my own experience.
Here are the steps:
#1. Visit the Website
Log in pokemongo.com, pull the page to the bottom.

Click “CUSTOMER SERVICE”

#2. Type
Type in “Submit a ban appeal” in the search bar and click the first one “Submitting a ban appeal”

#3. Fill in the Form
Click “Help Center” in the middle of the post.

You’ll get a form like this.

Now it’s important. In “Describe your problem here”, type in “I didn’t use any botting or hacking tools.” and ask “What’s the reason for banning my account?”, submit.
In this way, you’re getting a higher rate of removing bans of your account.
Do you prefer playing Pokemon Go with tools or without tools? Have you got any good solutions to get rid of the bans? Let me know in the comment!
